An Emerald Green Winter Styled Shoot
Who doesn’t love a surprise proposal at the end of a styled shoot?!
When Mycha Michelle and I dreamed up this emerald and gold styled shoot, we talked about ways to make it unique, to make sure it told the beauty of that is Rivercrest Farms in Dover, Ohio.
We wanted emerald, and velvet, and gold, and lush florals. We wanted elegant, and simple, and romantic. We wanted clean and timeless.
We wanted to showcase the beautiful outside fireplace that was new to Rivercrest Farm in 2018. We wanted to show off the updated inside that was new in 2019.
So we set up our ceremony space with Christmas trees and lights at the fireplace mantel. Lined the aisle with candles and pine. Added candles to the base of the fireplace, and started a fire.
Mycha designed a head table a royal family would gather at with gold beaded chargers, a gold shimmer runner with an emerald runner overlay, and of course, florals! Let’s not forget the antlers added in for extra texture!
One uniqueness factor that wasn’t originally on our dream board was a proposal.
A few messages to a former LJ Bride, I was on the phone with Brock to chat about a possible proposal. He said he wanted to propose to Megan before they vacationed in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in early December, but didn’t have any specific details worked out. When I proposed to him the idea of popping the question at the styled shoot, he seemed excited. A bit overwhelmed, I’m sure – but excited.
True to Styled Shoot fashion, we had to dodge some rain and pushed up the proposal sooner than planned. We drove to one of Rivercrest’s hillsides and I asked Megan and Brock to go back-to-back. I handed Megan a “vow” book with a love letter from Brock written inside. This gave Brock enough time to get down on one knee. After a few seconds of reading, Brock told Megan to turn around.
I was worried that bits and pieces of the planning would lead Megan to think something could happen. As a former girlfriend anticipating a proposal with anything, and I mean anything (can you blame a girl? Josh and I were together 5.5 years before he finally proposed), I worried that Megan’s spidey senses were peaked. Thankfully, the proposal was a complete surprise!
