Engagement Photos on the Family Farm
I know I’ve said it before, but I love when my couples choose engagement session locations that are near and dear to their hearts! Lately, it seems, those locations have included the family farm! Three of my last four engagement sessions have all taken place on a farm that has been in the family for several generations now! The biggest difference with the Julian farm compared to the others is it was recently sold.
Since the farm will sadly no longer be in the family after next month, Taylor and CJ decided they wanted to throw the greatest party it has ever seen – the celebration of their marriage! CJ has so many memories at the Julian Farm growing up, but I think it’s safe to say, being able to celebrate his marriage to Taylor will top the cake of those memories!
When Taylor and I were discussing locations for their engagement photos, she mentioned the farm, but also knew that the day of the wedding, she and CJ would want bridal portraits taken. It was an easy decision when we agreed on the weather in October doesn’t always play fair, so let’s take advantage of being able to walk the fields and take our time.
So that’s exactly what we did! I arrived at the family farm and immediately envisioned all the places I would take Taylor and CJ’s photos! The property was beautiful! Sitting on just under 40 acres, we had a variety of places! My favorite being the tall weeds between the soybean field and the barn!
CJ talked about his memories of throwing crab apples at the top of the orchard, the horse that bit him as a boy – the same horse that found her way into almost every photo we took! Taylor talked about the last time they camped in the upper field this past August. Even with all the bug bites, that last night camping was well worth making one of their last memories!
I’m so excited for Taylor and CJ’s wedding next month! I just hope that I am able to do this beautiful farm justice in all its beauty! Each and every wedding is special for me, but I can already feel the pressure on my shoulders to knock this one outta the park for the Julian family!!
