The Flatirons – Boulder Colorado
As I was snapping photos of Matt and Kelly at the Flatirons in Boulder Colorado I could hear the thunder rolling in the background. (Que me some Garth Brooks!) A couple minutes and a few more phtoos later, I felt a rain drop. And then another, and then another. I finally suggested that Matt, Kelly, Josh (my handsome Hubby) and myself make the walk back to the car before Mother Nature gave us all a natural shower. It was during the walk back to the car that Kelly and Matt jokingly said it of course had to rain tonight. Not knowing their history, my first thought was “Of course. I’m in Colorado all the way from Ohio to for this beautiful session and it’s going to rain. OF COURSE!” But I later found out that for every important date in Matt and Kelly’s life the heavens have rained for them. Their wedding – the quick one, and the well thought out one, and the births of their beautiful children. How special for Matt and Kelly to remember these photos by having it rain just like it had done perviously.
At the beginning of July I put an ad on Facebook seeking two beautiful people madly in love to photograph while Josh and I were in Colorado. Kelly answered that model call. They’re not Colorado Natives, they’re both orginally from Delaware. You see, Matt’s in the Air Force and Colorado is their second stop on this journey with the Air Force. They spent some time in Germany, even expended their family with a healthy baby boy while overseas. Some time later later, Matt received orders that his family was going to move to Colorado, and a couple months after the move, their daughter was born.
I’m so thankful for those orders, and the journey that has led Matt and Kelly to Colorado. I had a wonderful time photographing these two at the Flatirons in Boulder Colorado.
Thank you both for last minute plans and going with the flow. For the fifteen minute conversation while the rain drops played music on the roof of the rental, and trecking back up the trail, now wet and muddy. It’s such a joy to add these photos to my portfolio, and an absolute JOY to meet you. Here’s to our paths crossing again!
