2016 Year in Review | Engagement Sessions
Earlier this week, I spent time highlighting my 2016 Weddings and the beautiful Brides and their handsome Husbands I had the pleasure of spending the day with. 2016 was my biggest year yet with 23 weddings photographed. It wasn’t until I started I gathering my favorite photo from each of the engagement sessions I had that I realized I photographed 30 engagement sessions! According to my mileage app, I accumulated 1,821 miles driving to and from the sessions!
One of the best parts about taking this business full-time was being able to say YES to new locations. I love my close-to-home spots that take less than 20 minutes to get there, but when I’m able to explore and photograph in a new location, my creative soul is lit on fire! Some of my favorite new places this year include Headlands Beach in Mentor, Lanterman’s Mill in Youngstown, Squire’s Castle in Willoughby Hills, and has hard as it for this PA, Steelers-loving girl to admit it, Cleveland. Three other locations that I photographed at that I love shooting weddings at was Brookside Farm, Stan Hywet, and The Club at Hillbrook.
One of my most popular spots this year for engagement photos was Quail Hollow State Park. I give all the credit to Nick and Mandi for this. We met in April when it was rather chilly still, but the light was creamy and golden that gave an already beautiful location a very elegant feel. Of my 30 engagement sessions, five sessions were at Quail Hollow.
I photographed several sessions in locations this year that held sentimental value to my couples. Family farms, new homes, and places where childhood memories were made! I love when my couples tell me they want to incorporate a special location into their photos. It makes the time we spend together that much more real, and they’re already in a place where they feel comfortable!
Of these 30 couples, 18 of them are 2017 Brides and Grooms. And all 18 of them are having very different and unique weddings. That has to be one of the best aspects of this “job” that I have. I am able to witness the beginning of marriages every week and see how each wedding is different from the weekend before!
