One of my favorite parts on a wedding day is photographing the bridal details. It’s my warm-up time before I run a marathon of creating gorgeous photos for my couples! But in order to shoot the details, I need everything together. So today, we’re talking about your Bridal Detail Checklist and what you need to have gathered for me to photograph the first chapter of your wedding day love story.
Bridal Details Checklist
- Invitations
I love photographing these! It’s the first time your guests see that is related to your wedding. The first tangible item they receive, and the first hint of how awesome your day is going to be! They’re pretty crucial to this bridal detail checklist. Include two fresh sets! - *Bonus Points: have a calligrapher write the addresses on the envelopes for added detail! The Dress!
This is a given, right? It’s something that every single Bride has given thought to, even before they were engaged! - A Wooden Hanger
You have a beautiful dress, give that beautiful dress a hanger to hang on for photos. There’s nothing worse than a white plastic hanger holding your dress up. You can find sellers on Etsy or you can DIY
- Your Veil
If your veil has a beautiful trim around the edge, this is always fun to photograph as an accent - Shoes
It’s smart to wear your shoes the week leading up to your wedding around the house! This will give you a chance to break them in and avoid blisters on your wedding day
- The Rings – all three of them!
In order to properly photograph the rings, I need you, the BRIDE, to have all three rings in the morning when I get there. I know that before the ceremony the best man needs the wedding bands, but to get the ring shots that you’ll cherish forever, I need them first thing in the morning. - Bouquet
It’s SO important that your florist delivers your bouquets and boutonnières to your getting ready location before your photographer arrives. Bonus points if you ask your florist to include a couple of single stem flowers to add an extra touch to your detail photos
- Perfume bottle
I bought a special bottle just for the wedding! And I only use it on special occasions. Brings back all the warm and fuzzies of the wedding day for me - Jewelry
This includes your necklace, earrings, and hairpiece!
One Final Tip…
When your photographer arrives on your wedding day, make life a little bit easier for yourself by having all these items already gathered together. I like to suggest putting it all in your shoebox and then placing the shoebox in the bottom of your cloth dress bag.
This simple step will save you from having to get out of the hair chair to fetch the items or sending a bridesmaid on a wild goose chase!
