Yesterday was a huge anniversary for myself, but also for my dear friends.
Four years ago a close friend from High School married his High School Sweetheart, and I was their wedding photographer. I shot my first wedding.
Holy cow!! Where does the time go?!
This young girl with a Canon Rebel t3 who literally had no clue what she was doing, shooting a full wedding on P. I had the right sense to at least shoot in RAW, even though I had no clue what RAW was, and WHY I should be shooting that way.
Funniest part of that, the “software” I used to “edit” their wedding wasn’t even compatitable with RAW. Oh boy.
I look at these photos and my first thought is to cringe. But my second, and more powerful thought, is that I’ve come such a long way. I’ve learned so much from Kyle and Jen’s wedding. The photos aren’t AWFUL. But, you can clearly see growth in my work. And I’m THANKFUL for that.
I’m thankful that Kyle and Jen trusted in me with their special day. They trusted my blind eye to detail, my over use of hideous filters (you’ll see one photo with a filter), and having NO clue how to properly use my camera.
But everyone starts somewhere. So here’s my somewhere.
Love you Kyle and Jen! Happy Anniversary! And thank you for being the first couple of the Bridal Family!
^BAD, BAD, BAD filter. Was instagram around in 2011, because that’s what this photo looks like I edited with! 😉
