Everyone knows and anticipates the first kiss at a wedding. When the preacher says “I know pronounce you Husband and Wife. You may now kiss your Bride”, everyone holds their breath and exhales with excited cheers as the the newlyweds come down the aisle. My favorite part comes in the next thirty or so seconds – however long it takes the couple to get ALMOST all the way down the aisle.
I find the perfect spot, and i’ll motion to my couple that they need to stop. Sometimes they know what’s coming, sometimes they don’t. If they don’t know, they’ll look at me like i’m crazy. They’ll continue to think i’m crazy until they see the magic we just created. Once they’ve stopped, i’ll then tell them to kiss while tapping my fingers to my own lips. While i’m sitting here typing this out, thinking about what actually goes on, my couples have every reason to think i’m crazy, because I am!
I can not take credit for this magic that happens moments after the first kiss. The second kiss I borrowed from my own wedding photographer, Kaitlin Noel Photography. She had Josh and I do this on our wedding day, and it’s one of my favorite shots! (SEE BELOW!!)
The guests who are seated towards the end of the pews get a front row seat to my favorite kiss that otherwise they would have had a difficult time seeing.
So LJBrides, if I don’t explain to you prior to the ceremony what all my wild hand movements are, and the insane request for you to stop in the middle of the aisle while you’re racing towards the finish line, I promise the brief stop is going to be totally worth it when you see your blog post the Tuesday after your wedding! I hope, like mine, it’s one of your favorite photos from your wedding day!
Thank you, Kaitlin for giving me this photo! xoxo
PS…What’s missing from my photo?? CAMERAS!!!!!!! YAY for UNPLUGGED WEDDINGS!!!!
And some of my favorites from past weddings with my beautiful LJ Brides!
