Continuing education is so important in your career. It keeps your heart fresh, focused, and motivated. This is why, once a year, as long as the girls at Creative at Heart are rocking what they do, i’ll pack my bags, fly on an airplane to a new city, and visit with other creatives who have the same dreams I do, be an awesome boss lady!
Last March I attended my first ever conference, Creative at Heart Round Two in Roanoke (click here to read about my first experience)! I went in with no expectations and great anticipation for how my business was going to change the next 48 hours. It’s because of the incredible experience that I had in March of 2015 that told me I HAD to attend last month in Denver, Colorado. Hubby and I made a vacation out of it (click here to view our vacation photos) road tripping to Montana, and Yellowstone before spending time in Denver.
Instead of recapping my experience with Creative at Heart for my second time, I want to spend time encouraging those who have never been to a conference before, or are looking for a new conference to attend, why they need to attend THIS conference.
Why Every Creative Needs to Attend Creative at Heart
- It’s just not for photographers
There are planners, florists, makeup artists, designers, bloggers, fashion designers, painters, and business coaches there. You’re able to connect with so many different professions and in turn, you’ll get a fresh perspective on your business. As a photographer, when I’m working on a project, they first people I ask for advice from are other photographers. How refreshing can it be to get a NEW perspective on a project and receive NEW feedback on how it could work better?! - Creative at Heart is all about Community
Kat – the founder of Creative at Heart is all about community. Whether you attend with a friend or a fly solo, EVERYONE in the room has the same heart. They all want to lift one another up and the best part, they’re genuine about it. - Each Speaker has something new to talk about
Each speaker, whether she’s a photographer, designer, blogger, or coach, has something truly unique to teach you. I filled up not one, BUT TWO notebooks this past conference. TWO notebooks full of ideas to be a better business woman, and provide an even more defined experience for my couples. - The words are exactly what you need to hear
Shay Coochrane from SCStocktop talked about finding your niche. I knew walking into that conference room bright and early Sunday morning that my niche was weddings. I market myself as a wedding photographer. But I was still photographing seniors. After Shay, I drafted a canned email referring all senior inquiries out. I have two more on the books, and those will be the last Seniors that I photograph. It was almost like I was waiting for permission to let go of Seniors. - You’ll walk away with full heart and focused mind
I can’t quite describe the overwhelming emotion I have had on the last day of both conferences. I’m mentally drained from the influx of information I have just gained, but I’m so motivated to take my two pages of to-do list items and get started. When you sign up for a conference you do so in hopes that you’re going to grow as a person in your field, and without a shadow of a doubt, Creative at Heart does this.
So, sign up for Creative at Heart’s newsletter so you’ll be one of the first to know of their 2017 cities. And then email me and tell me which city you’re going to and I won’t book a wedding that weekend and we’ll be travel buddies! I promise you, investing in Creative at Heart will be one of THE best business investments you’ll make. Or I’ll pay for your ticket!
