Julia + Justin

Did you know that something like 28% of married couples met their spouse at college? Julia and Justin’s story is no different! They were both mechanical engineers at Akron U when they met. It would take a couple of months before Justin worked up the courage to ask Julia out. True to college fashion, their first date was at Swenson’s. Who can pass up some drive-up greasy fast food?! I know I can’t!!

On the day that Justin proposed, he made sure to incorporate Swenson’s into their proposal story. After a picnic-style lunch at Little Turtle Pond, a place they would go run together, Justin led Julia around the pond before he would eventually propose. That was on May 31st of this year.

And here we are. Only two months after the proposal, these two are planning their wedding for this October, and just a few weeks ago, we took their engagement photos.

When we met before they booked, Julia explained to me that her family owned a Christmas Tree Farm and she always wanted to have her wedding on the farm. (Fun fact, her parents were married nearly 30 years ago in the barn you’ll see below!) While it couldn’t work out to be married on the farm, Julia wanted to still incorporate one of her favorite places in the whole world.

Her grandparents purchased the farm back in 1970 and it has blossomed into a family heirloom for the future generations. Julia told me countless stories while we walked the fields. How her family plants together every year, pick out their trees together, and all chips in to help maintain the trees and grounds.

I’ve said it countless times, but it always makes my heart happy when I’m invited into a couple’s space like this. I’m a sucker for sentimental value, and knowing that Julia and Justin now have photos of this special place is an honor!
