Preparing Your Clients for a Long Leave | Blog Feature

Raise your hand if you can relate to any of these traits:

  • You’re Type A
  • You like to be in control (this might as well be a sub-category to being type A!)
  • You don’t outsource general tasks, because quite frankly, no one can do it like you
  • You’re efficient in your workflow, so you don’t need the help

Did you raise your hand for allllll of that?  Girl (or dude), ME TOO!

I’m a control freak that has systems in place that is not only effective for me but are quick, and because of that, I think no one can do a task better than I can.

But something happened in 2016.  I quit my full-time teaching job to work for myself full time.  I was spending more hours on my computer than I was with my husband.  If you’re a frequent flyer to my blog, you know my love language is quality time.  The only quality time I was getting was with a screen.

SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE.

And then here comes Jen.  She was considering an opportunity of becoming an editor.  And I was over editing.  I was beginning to loathe it.  Sure, I could knock out a full wedding in under three hours, but that’s three hours I could have been spending completing a different task for my business.  OR, with Josh.  (Now with my sweet Charlotte!)

So guess what this type A girl did.  I hired Jen to edit the remainder of my 2016 weddings for me.  And then again for all of my 2017 weddings.  And guess what Jen gets to do for 2018?  Edit my weddings this season.

I adore Jen, and the freedom that outsourcing my editing to her has brought into my life.  When Jen asked if I wanted to guest blog on her website, I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity.  I love blogging.  Sadly, being a new mommy, I don’t get the time to sit down in front of my computer as much I was would like.

The other week on Jen’s blog, I talked all about prepping your clients for time off.  Whether that’s just a weekend for a quick trip away (or just time away from that screen!), or a two-week vacation to reconnect with your family, or in my case, a 15-week maternity leave.

I will be forever grateful that I was able to take that much time off to give all my focus to Charlotte.  And I’m grateful for every single Bride of mine who allowed me that time.

If you’re wondering how to go about educating your clients on time off, head over to Jen’s blog now to read all about it.  I took many steps to make sure everyone knew communication would be extremely delayed.

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email!  I’d be happy to help you!
