Why You Should Hire a Photographer for your Proposal

When I saw the statistic that 47% of people proposing will hire a photographer or videographer to capture the moment, I was a bit surprised. Nearly half of the people surveyed thought ahead enough to hire a professional!

There are plenty of wonderful reasons why you should hire a photographer for your proposal, and today I’m going to share with you my top five reasons.

Five Reasons to Hire a Photographer for your Proposal

It Happens QUICK

As you can imagine, the moment you drop down on one knee, the world around you becomes a blur. Your heart is racing, your palms are sweaty, and you’re thankful you’re already close to the ground.

In a matter of minutes, you may forget the ugly cry that is happening right before your eyes. In six months, you’ll forget where you both were standing. Having photographic proof of this incredible day will preserve the memory. You’ll never have to worry about forgetting a single detail.

Your Family Feels Involved

Your family will ask all kinds of questions about the proposal. They will want to know every single detail. Did you cry? Did he cry? Were you surprised? Where did he propose? Remember the first point about the moment happening quickly? Sharing with your family the professional photos will save you some time in answering all the questions.

Social Media Announcement

Nothing is official until it’s on social media, right? One of the first things you may do after telling family is to post the exciting news to Facebook and Instagram.

Being able to share with your extended family and social media friends the proposal may be exciting for you. Just like your families, they’ll be able to feel like they were in the moment with you.

Personalized Save the Dates

If you’re wanting to send out Save the Dates to your wedding guests, using a photo from the proposal is a great option. Some couples won’t have engagement photos taken for a few months into this new season of life. Using a photo from the proposal means there is no waiting to get back in front of the camera.

Part of Your Story

Your love story is epic to the two of you. Your children will one day strive to have the same with their future spouse. Celebrate the start of this season of life with proposal photos. You celebrate the love you have for one another with engagement photos. You certainly have your wedding day photographed. Why should your proposal be any different?

Professional or Friend?

Whether you hire a professional photographer or ask a friend along for the ride to photograph the proposal, that’s up to you. There are fewer risks involved if you hire a professional. A friend may only be using their cell phone. The photos could be blurry. They could miss the proposal entirely. Hiring a professional photographer ensures that all the right steps are taken so the ugly crying and the excitement of the day are not missed.
